LazyTown, LazyTown, LazyTown..

Mandy has just sent me this great photo of her having fun with Children at a school in Renfrewshire to assist with raising Funds for Chest Heart Stroke Scotland. During the lunchbreak, all Mandy could hear were the children shouting LazyTown, LazyTown, LazyTown in the playground.

Again I am so proud of the work that the franchisees are undertaking in the community, it is really making positive changes to children lives 🙂

FitKid and LazyTown Sports Club link with Asda Sporting Chance.

FitKid are linking with the Asda Sporting Chance scheme, to give children the chance to take part in a FitKid or LazyTown Sports Club for free by bringing the voucher to a class.  The vouchers are available nationwide in Asda stores, and are a great scheme for children to get active during the holidays. The scheme starts on 12th February and will run through 2011. So why not come along and try a class in one of our franchise areas!

All franchisees are part of the scheme, so visit our website at www.fitkid.co.uk or click the photo to the left to find locations for classes.

Locations limited to franchise zones.

They danced, sang and played games

Adele, from Grimsby is a superhero according to little George who celebrated his birthday with entertainment from The LazyTown Sports Club Team powered by FitKid.

She received a fantastic quote from George’s mum Nicola and I am very proud of her.

“The party was a great success. Adele  entertained the children from the moment they arrived to when they sat down for something to eat. They danced, sang and played games and the activities were enjoyed by 2 year olds up to 12 year olds. George said “I liked the marching bit the best when we had to lift our knees up and swing our arms to the music”.

An article I thought I would share….

This article, although not hugely positive, was on Wales Online the other day and I thought I would let you all take a look if you have not already seen it yet.

The highlight of the article is:

“A GENERATION of Welsh children is being brought up who will be outlived by their parents, a health expert warned yesterday.

It came as figures from the Welsh Health Survey, published yesterday, showed 34% of Welsh children are overweight or obese, including nearly one in five who are obese.

The survey also showed more than half of adults in Wales are overweight, including 21% who are obese. Nearly a quarter of adults currently smoke.

Professor Bruce Davies, of the department of health and exercise science at the University of Glamorgan, said: “Around 60% of children who are overweight have another risk factor, such as high cholesterol, Type 2 diabetes, low HDL or high blood pressure.

“Without question we are breeding a group of children who will be outlived by their parents unless we do something about it.”

The whole article, thanks to Wales Online can be seen here: http://tinyurl.com/334hlht

For me, this highlights that there is still a lot more work to be done…

LazyTown Sports Club for ALL!!!

Younger Children and their Parents engage with LTSC!

FitKid and LazyTown Sports Club - Poole

The Poole and Bournemouth Team have been spending the Summer developing new and engaging sessions with younger children AND their parents.

This has been an interesting trial for the LazyTown Sports Club product on numerous levels but it has been successful

The news that these trials have worked out well comes hot on the heals of the success we had earlier this year when the LazyTown Sports Club product was trialled on children in the local area with learning disabilities. The fantastic feedback received from the children and their carers was amazing. The significance of the music and movement on the levels of engagement from the children was second to none. Another positive for this developing project.

The latest summer success has led to the client concerned wanting to continue with the development of these sessions in September.

We are also therefore pleased to share with you, the following quote:

“The sessions have been very effective, the staff have given positive feedback, with regards to the children’s enjoyment and development achieved during the sessions.”

Deputy manager with lead for Support and Outreach – Children’s Learning & Engagement at Bournemouth Borough Council

It is fantastic that we have been able to begin to engage Mums and Dads and their children together in this product. We also hope to continue with the evolution of these concepts in association with the LazyTown Sports Club powered by FitKid model over the coming months.
